Why did they change their hypothesis to 'one gene-one polypetide'???

And which experiement are we suppposed to refer to that they used? the bread mould neurospora thingy or the drosphilia flies and their eye colour? or possibly both?

it is the mould/neurospora. it is bombarded with x rays then grown in a culture however it does not survive without an enzyme (i think) added to it which is essential to its survival and was produced prior to xray. thus the xrays caused a mutation in the DNA which meant that the production of the needed enzyme was not successful.

and that a gene did not necessarily code for an enzyme or protein. several genes may be needed to form a gene maybe
