What are your thoughts on the BCom/BSc (Advanced) as a double degree? Is it worth the extra year than a normal BCom/BSc?

Why would you need an extra year? BSc (Adv) is just a BSc with advanced subjects.

Its an extra year than doing one of the degrees alone, advanced and regular take the same amount of time.

Isn't it an extra 2 years? As in combined programmes generally go for 5 years, versus 3 years for the a standard undergraduate degree.

Perhaps the OP assumes that USyd is like UNSW and makes students who do an advanced science degree also do honours in order to get the adv on the end. This is not the case.
