From what I've heard people saying I'm still not sure about getting a definite 100% mark for 2u maths. Is this true??

So in doing 4u we dont have to do the 2u asessments or exams like the half yearly, yearly, trials and hsc since we get 100% automatically for all of them???

Hm... :confused::confused:

If you do 4u, you dont do 2u at all. That means your ext 1 and ext 2 marks are doubled.

*nods*

in other words 'mathematics extension 1' and 'mathematics extension 2' will each be counted as a 2 unit course.

Your school might still make you do the 2unit assesments in case you drop 4-unit you will have an assesment ranking.

Which isn't really saying much. Band 6 in 2 unit is crap if you can beat 1/4 people in 4 unit ...

yes, but 100% in 2 unit maths means, that ur on top of 80% of the state in terms on mathematical ability. :p

But wouldn't the scaling be better if you got 100% instead of beating 1/4 of the people in 4 unit?

Lets just say that it doesn't matter because you can't use it and it doesn't count towards anything

no they assume that you would get a band 6, 90-100 if you get an E3 or E4 in ext2. or they would assume you would get a band 5 if you get E1 or E2.

ahhh...ok- so its not based on the fact that u do 4u maths- its based on how much u got for 4u maths...i never knew that, but then again, i don't need to care abt. it either. :p

If you're referring to Mathematics showing 100/100 on the HSC result paper then no.

If you are not too keen on the 4 unit maths then keep 2/3 unit. After all, 90% for 2 unit is a heaps better mark than 70% for 3 unit.

yeah- for sure man..its been dropping heaps, since the 4u kids aren't performing as well in the new hsc (i.e the new science courses)
