That depends on how the lectures/classes/etc are timetabled for you to cram. You should be able to get a good idea on hours per week of contact you will have from your program of study.

Different programs will have different amount of hpw contact - sometimes all 5 days are needed.

if possible, do you suggest jamming them into a few days? what's better - 3 8 hr days, or 5 5 hour days

That depends on how you like to work. Do you like it all in one chunk or bit by bit? Doing it all in one go gives you less time at uni, but with breaks, you spend more time at uni and probably worked more relaxed.

My worst day had 7 hours straight with no breaks (I had 24.5 hours per week, about double some commerce students) and I didn't have much of a choice with it.

Remember you'll have classes like tutorials where you have class tests etc, so maybe breaks are useful for study/work/socialising.

At times you'll slap yourself silly during a one hour break finding something to do - other times you just wished you had a break between those 8 hours worth of lectures.

hmmm ok, i think i would like either every day, starting late and finishing early, or 4 days maybe, but yeah i won't cram it all in. i think i will be less productive - and the tests is a good point, if you have hours of classes and a test at the end you won't fo too well!

thanks!

Free days probably aren't a good idea, for me at least; i'll end up going to the city or beach or something and waste all day. And on the long days i'll be too tired to study after uni.

Yeh depends on your uni and timetable also. If a subject has more that one lecture that you can attend, then its more flexible. Most of my subjects only had one lecture, and they were usually on different days, so I at least had 3-4 days of uni, even though I only did around 12 hours.
