so far..no..only really the work from the semester is covered in the exams...however, there is some basic stuff that you may have to remember from previous semesters, but not in great detail..well thats the case for me, at least so far but im sure it will be different for different courses

They won't ask you specific stuff from previous semesters, but in a lot of subjects if you don't know information from earlier on you're pretty much screwed.

most subjects have previos year's subjects as "prerequisites" which means that ure expected to know them before doing htis subject ... especially the case with discrete maths and finite maths :(

Yes, its a mini hsc every 6 months.... they're called final exams.

Yes, and in some degrees, you will be expected to know details from all previous years/subjects!

What would be the point of learning it, otherwise?

It's more like *cram* four weeks worth of work into one week, imo.
