When given the differential eqn for newton's cooling Q's can you assume T=To+Ae^-k

When told a particle moves in SHM can you assume a=-n^2x and v^2=n^2(a^2-x^2) ?

Can you use cylindrical shells / volume by slices? (if I happen to get stuck and can't figure out how to do in the 3u way)

And are 4u method of integration (by parts, partial fractions etc) allowed (as it may have to be used if you use 4u volumes I'm guessing)

1) Yes, or they'll give you the formula; you aren't expected to be able to derive it.

2) Yes.

3) & 4) I think they are allowed (unless they say "hence" or something).
