Just wondering because I have applied for several animation courses within QLD, and am worried about what I should have in my portfolios. Is it a good idea to create possibly an interactive portfolio on cd rom, or stick to more real media techniques?
Also how many portfolios do you guys have to do? I have to do three!:)

gah?????
I dont even do art but I've made a portfolio for application for graphic design, ive actually developed my own 3 dimensional game, the story line is really stupid, you walk towards characters, talk, then leave, talk to diff people,

but the graphics is what i concentrated on
i took a leaf out of Need 4 speed underground graphics with textiles..

Hmm I should probably get some experience with those programs eh? I have to use Maya, 3dsmax, and possibly Cinema4D. I never seem to have any patience with those programs though....:(

easy enough to learn, and the results are great.
I've rendered like... really basic stuff, but how realistic it looks is enough of a reward :D

hey i just asked my brother, he's an amateur animator,
and he said you should have a portfolio with life drawing stuff, because
you know, they always say that you have to be able to draw realistically
before you can do animation and that you know stuff about anatomy.
Apparently they ask for that if you want to get into disney even.

He also said it would be good if you have a showreel, and develop your skills on a particular aspect such as character modelling. i don't know what he was talking about there.

he also said that they'l probably ask 'what are you going to do, if you dont get into the course.'

and be able to explain your animations if you have any..
