So are we expected to buy references or simply just look over them?

In most cases the lecture notes written by academics from the school will be sufficient. Look up references in the library if necessary (only the keenest guys would do that though).

Hmm, I intend to pay attention and listen to lectures, and use textbooks/ lecture notes as a back up. My note taking skills and handwriting are atrocious. Never bothered taking notes for maths in high school. I think I may have to rely more on the textbook for phys and chem though.

lol, i'm in the fischer library right now looking for the refs for both linear algebra and adv calc.

i'm very keen

Id just also like to point out that the library only loans out for a week!?!?!? and if u dont hand the books back in time, they fine you and the fines appreciate until you do give them the books back.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FREE CABLE FOR ALLLLLLLL (fischer is so big!)

Oh that's very admirable dark_angel.

Indeed the Fisher undergraduate library only allows for one-week non-renewable loans, because most books there are course references so everyone wants to put their hands on them. Try the research library (the taller side of Fisher) or the maths library in Carslaw level 8. You can keep those books for 2 weeks and renew them up to 5 times. I always try to find books from those places rather than the undergraduate library. They're usually more advanced books too, which should be good for you :)

BTW, the library fines apply to overdue books at $1 per book per day. And you won't be allowed to borrow once you reached the $25 mark, until you have paid you fine and returned the books.

You'll need it for stats. It gets very boring in the lectures, and people fall asleep.
