I was studying the other day, and came across a uniform circular motion question.
Having just finished the resisted motion in 4u, I discovered that I can't actually do it the physics way any more. It just doesn't seem right.
Also, it's the same with projectile motion from 3u. It's now actually easier to do questions using calculus!

Anybody else find the same thing happening?

Ive actually found it the opposite....i dont know why...maybe it is because now the 3unit and physics ones dont seem so hard...(i really suck at the 4unit ones...)

3u projectiles IS easier, and it makes more sense. (i can't speak for 4u)

I always fo projectiles the 3 unit way now. Its much easier because I actually understand the forces acting on the object, etc. The physics way is just subbing numbers into formulas, and its harder to understand in certain questions

I agree, the formulas dont take any skill and
with 3 and 4u you actually understand why they turn out that way

physics is more like

"heres the formula, plug it in"

maths is like

"heres how you start, now finish it"

That's silly. If you actually did the physics course properly, you would probably pick up the "where the formulas came from" or "the forces acting on the object" at some stage.

And it's not like 3 unit projectile motion is so amazing either, you pretty much do the exact same process every time.

duh, thats the whole point of physics

but physics exams rarely expect you to derive more than one line
