Weren't you the person that thought spending 700 could get a full system with a big amp and 2 subs or something?

If you're the same dude who posted on Fast Fours, take Fhrx's and ICACHA's advice - forget that alpine rip-off from ebay.

Add to that, forget a visual set-up, you'd need a lot more than the 2000 you thought was ricey to make it work. Instead, get yourself a mid-level headunit, solid front splits, and a decent installation to start off. You can always expand the set-up to include an amp and sub later. I'm sure Fhrx will be more than happy to help you with getting a decent system.

Why exactly would anyone want a television screen in their car? Unless you spend hours in it waiting for something to happen, I doubt you'd get much chance to watch it. It is also a distraction from driving so unless it's placed so that those in the back seat can only view it I don't see a purpose to purchasing. And to those who use it for GPS it's call a street directory. Use it.

mate I have only told them some little facts....my car is already connected with some good gear around 500 worth just on the wires and the 6 by 9s...

if you want the full details about my system you will have to read my posts on car audio australia...

and i dont need to get it professionaly installed because my mate can do it he installs 100s of car audio systems...

Question: what are you running in the front right now.

Rockford 6x9's.. ok sure.. nice rear speakers, but since when did you sit in the REAR when driving... absolutely useless except for rear fill, especially if you want a sub.

Seriously consider what people have been telling you on the other forums.

yeah but the people on the car forums are stupid they waste like 2000 on a tv when you can get one for 200 and not care if it brekas in like 1 year....whilst if the 2000 doller one goes then you loose 1800 more...get what i am saying...

I am not a noob on ebay either i know how it works, I know where to buy good shit from and i know the good sellers....

some people just dont like seeing good bargins comming in from overseas because it is outside their comfort zone of harvey norman....

Yeah, and you know a whole lot right?

If you must go get a screen, get one from Jaycar, their stuff usually turn out ok for the price.

As for the player, steer clear from that alpine rip-off. You can find a name brand from ebay stores for a lot cheaper, but you don't get squat in terms of warranty, and the stock they sell are often items that have failed quality control.

You can almost bet that the alpine rip-off will break down and cost you alot more than $200 to replace.

edit: and that $2000 - $200 comparison is like comparing a Boss amp to a Zapco or Tru Tech

it depends what you'll be using it for.

marty is good for certain things, i got my audison srx3 amp from him. As for my splits, i got a very good deal from american ebay. i also got my wiring (stinger) from marty.

As for the screen, it depends what you want. ebay is decent, but yeah warranty is a bit of hazy area. I'm putting in a carputer atm and i'm going to get a 7" lilliput touch next week from ebay to navigate it all. Go for the lilliputs, they seem to be pretty good quality (except the indash 7" touch screen which i've heard horror stories about). If you dont need a touch screen then go for one of the standard ones, they go for alot cheaper than the touch screens.

And also what one of the other guys said here ... rear fill is kinda pointless if your getting subs, as everyone will tell ya, your ears face forward. If you've got pretty good splits, putting 1/2 dodgy rears is gonna screw up the sound a bit. I guess if you must have them you can always fade them out if your running a headunit.

and a decent mp3 AV setup is going to cost you about 1g at the least.

If you want to impress your mates or one up them, that's fine, but you'll be a lot better off getting decent gear in the 1st place, ebay or otherwise.

1g AV set up? Consisting of what? Stock speakers and a screen/receiver off ebay? Splits off ebay I suppose are less risky than items such as amps, with less electrical components, hell, I've seen PG Xenon 6.5 for half the price - damn tempting.

the 1g i said didnt include anything related to amps, speakers, wiring etc.

the 1g av setup is presuming you've already got amps, splits, subs, wiring etc.
i'm presuming your going to be using it for mp3's ? if your using it for other shit like dvd's and a ps2 it gets pointless fast

lol yeah that was mine, i got in quick  funny thing was he blew the ex-demo srx3 because audison wanted him to stress test it, so i ended up getting a brand new one for the price of the exdemo which was pretty cool.

Nice :D

Anyway, 7th, forget the AV idea, and just get it sounding nice. Headunit, splits, sound deadened, should be fine for ~750, if your mate installs it. Save some more and then put in an amp and a sub.
