this is an editorial from the daily telegraph some weeks ago, i often use it when i tutor my students, to point out just why the daily telegraph is catered for lower income people and sometimes they tend to misinform its readers.

http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,23493591-5001030,00.html

the editor, david penberthy, with an unknown background, is definitely not an economist.

any comment is welcomed.

I didn't read the article in full, but there are a number of credible arguements that fall in line with this way of thinking.

The arguement is that inflation targeting is flawed. And it is. Is it better than the alternative? I dont know, but it does have problems and it is only fair for the media to point those out.

At the end of the day our economy is there to serve its citizens not the other way around. If the costs of lowering inflation outweigh the benefits; then obviously it is a crappy policy. But this is a hard thing to measure.
