In my Excel revision guide it says that the green glow in the end of the glass at the cathode ( pressures ~0.1kPa ) was found by Crookes to be caused by negative electrons.... but i thought that it was Thompson who worked out they were particles (and from his experiment, electrons) ??
crookes only deduced that the glow was caused by cathode rays, and there was still debate over whether they were waves or a particle when he did this.
am i right or wrong?
