Is it okay if your creative for belonging is based on a historical event?

u get marks for originality and creativity...
u could make reference or allude to a historical event( ie. holocaust), but i wouldn't explicitly base my whole piece around it.

i'd say nope
it's culturally sensitive and unoriginal...
imagine if ur marker is jewish lol

Not if he does it well. All he needs to do is take that concept of the holocaust and expand it into a deep meaningful story. And it doesn't matter if the marker is jewish, as long as the story is not extremely explicit or offensive, the marker must mark it to it's highest quality.

It would be great idea, these sort of things are called 'adaptations' and their perfectly acceptable. After all, almost all stories bar science fiction/fantasy are based on past events and ideas...
