I've just read through the government website and it has a section that says those who were either receiving YA or AuStudy are eligible to claim back tax on their edu purposes?

The website is pretty poor at explaining... so does anyone know more about this?

I bought a laptop for $2.1k this year, desperate to claim it back.

I'm starting at uni next year and i was wondering how you went with your computer rebate? What happened? I heard there was a new precedent set that uni students who weren't mature age could still subsidize their costs such as laptops? thanks

You can claim it if you are using it for educational purposes and are enrolled in a course at uni. You just need to download the form/do it online or ring the tax office... the guys at the office are pretty dull and boring but they know what they're doing.
