Is it rare to find an Ext 2 Maths student getting a participation or credit in a Maths Comp? Is it necessarily a bad sign if an Ext 2 student gets a credit?

whats wrong with getting participations if you're doing 4 unit maths anyway? MCQ questions are there to make you feel better if you guess the right one and if you can colour circles in or not

Hehe.
It's just that comps tend to test logic skills, and often the "naturally gifted" Ext 2 students are the ones with the logic skills = doing well in maths comps. I wasn't sure if there was really a connection between them.

At least it's the HSC that counts...not competitions :)

Wow.
97 in Ext 2? - nice. That'd have to be Top 20 or close right?
You can't actually study for maths comps though...and I always do better in exams where you can actually study - my memory is much better than my logic.

the comp has little basis on syllabus work, it's mainly logic and problem solving.
