So overnight the dettol seems to have done a pretty good job. Still has some disgusting stains but i can live with that. Currently have the bag drying in the sun which should hopefully get rid of any mould left anyway.

On the pyro-technics front i feel bad for having to disappoint everyone. It's just too much of a nice bag to give up on..
