those look like really good subjects!! i did practically the same as you just instead of the humanities i did sciences, lol
just a heads up though, japanese continuers does really go by a LOT quicker in senior years and you'll be getting vocabulary (for my school we have to memorise ~100 words perweek) and new sentence structures constantly thrown at you.
japanese won't overwhelm you or be as time consuming as your other subjects as long as you stay consistent. like tbh u dont have to do more than an hour most days, just as long as its not too spread out

and about the sciences, they can scale well but they are so incredibly time consuming and demanding and they're only worth doing if you have a genuine interest in them and are most definitely not needed for a good atar. (ive seen just as many people get amazing atars with majority humanities than those with majority sciences)

honestly, i'd say the difficulty of learning the rules of each sentence is not necessarily more or less for any individual sentence, but the difficulty comes form memorising all the many, distinct rules.
for each new sentence you learn there will usually be a separate rule for nouns, adjectives, verbs.
japanese comes with an endless amount of ways to manipulate/change the tense, modality, formality etc and you'll have to combine all these different things

with vocabulary, (if you're using the wakatta textbook) id just say every time you get to a new unit skim through the quizlet of the previous unit because they're all available online. any word thats completely unfamiliar, keep track of it and save it to some separate flashcard set (like anki/physical ones)
some vocabulary may seem really really useless (and those tend to be the 'difficult' ones) but examiners LOVE throwing those in assessments
like, i remember coming across 'municipal office' and shrugging it off at first but being so incredibly confused when it came up in an assessment, lol
sure, you have your dictionary available during assessments but its time consuming and isn't guaranteed to help, its more of a last resort.

id say, even if you're naturally talented at japanese, doing minimal work will keep you stuck in the 80s, which isn't bad, but putting in a bit of extra effort to fine tune any small errors is what will push you into the high 90s range.
if you're doing extension though, these habits are going to be a huge help implementing early on

what makes japanese hard is the amount of content that there is to cover, not necessarily the difficulty of the content itself. it can just be a lot.
but it doesn't have to be overwhelming, as long as you're practicing often.

english is a super subjective subject (humanities as a whole actually) so its hard to get a tutor that will actually teach you. unlike stem, theres no 100% certain answer for english. ure better off reading eng standard papers posted here or wherever and studying how they articulate + vocab thats how i got better

I mean getting a tutor still does help cause doing that can still make it difficult to know how to improve ur own pieces but idk

tutor can help you work on a piece and suggest ideas, but if you have to write a paper on your own, you probably wouldn’t be able to replicate it nearly as well ykwim?? but ya possibly in the long term you could improve w a tutor tho. a good tip for study is to subconsciously integrate it into your daily life, even if you’re not studying for exams. like for instance if you hear someone say a word you dunno, instead of ignoring—go research it
over time your vocabulary will improve and boom shakalaka youre already getting better

Yeah but it helps build the skills that u can apply to different papers.
