Trefoil - sometimes I wonder whether or not you get it all. Which is a shame, because I'd like to think you do.

Obama can not do half of the things (and in some cases has no desire too) that you mentioned in your post.

The only differences between Obama and McCain as far as we're concerned is their ability to sustain world order. Under McCain, the United States of America will be discredited further, to the point that one of the other likely candidates for world power might aspire to take over, which can only come about in one way. War. The other way is a cessation of wars being declared on sovereign countries (This was basically going to be the case either way though, due to America's economic troubles).

Basically, Obama can sustain Americain superiority, McCain will further deteriorate it through his archaic policies and ideas - which is deadly, especially in the evolving world.

So now it comes down to whether or not you want America to continue to be a world superpower, only for another Bush or Republican to come into office and continue the Neoconservative agenda, or if you want another country (likely China) to take over.

No, I guess I don't 'get it', because for your information I support Israel, I support the current stabilisation of Afghanistan (after the fiasco in the Cold War), I don't think socialism or communism are the answer any more than raw capitalism, and I think Chavez is at times well-meaning but mostly dangerously authoritarian and confused.

Obama can not do half of the things (and in some cases has no desire too) that you mentioned in your post.
Half the things is more than enough - it's rather more than I see McCain capable of.

The underlined part is dubious. Not least of all because it's not all up to Obama - it's the Democrat party in general.

The only differences between Obama and McCain as far as we're concerned is their ability to sustain world order.
That's because you're an idealistic pseudo-radical who'd love nothing more than to see America crumble and can't discern the immense practical difference between centre-right and far-right economic and social policy.

Harsh? Maybe, but it seemed I needed to clarify. I am centre-left because I believe in moderation, not extremes. I sympathise with the far left no more than I do the far right (which isn't much at all).

Slidey, it is pretty pathetic how you surrender this mandate to Obama to do absolutely anything. You admit he probably wont do half the things he says, but that's ok?
You're just in this for the glitz, the celebrity. Although Obama is one of the most attractive and exciting products ever packaged by corporate America, shame on you sir.

I never have. I, like the majority of Americans, give him a mandate to fix the things I listed above.

Even if I wanted him to be all-powerful, he isn't, won't be, and can't be. There will still be a 40% minority of Republicans in power and his own party spans a very diverse range of stances and opinions on topics (and answer to their electorate). The Democrats are notorious for their lack of party unity in America where the Republicans are typically disciplined and unified.

You admit he probably wont do half the things he says, but that's ok?
It's OK, yes. Because it means he will do half the things he says.

Unlike some people, I'm not a moron who thinks a candidate is all powerful once in office and will hold true to every promise they made, nor a paranoid nut who thinks all politicians are liars all the time and thus indistinguishable.

If Obama and the Democrats can accomplish in 4 years just half the things I listed in that post (especially economic stability, healthcare, and education), electing Obama will have been well and truly worth it.

I don't see how that's at all relevant.
I don't know whether you know this or not, but I support the notion of a Jewish state, albeit one which abides with the 1948 partition plan. Again, this isn't relevant to this discussion.

I support the current stabilisation of Afghanistan (after the fiasco in the Cold War)
Afghanistan is more unstable now than ever before. There are thousands upon thousands of people starving, dozens of people dying every few weeks by American air raids, and absolutely no faith in the puppet regime which is supposed to govern Afghanistan.

Also, don't forget who caused the problems in Afghanistan. It was the Americans under Carter. Google "Operation Cyclone".

I don't think socialism or communism are the answer any more than raw capitalism.
You've probably not seen the debates I've had with the forums resident Trotskyist. I am not a communist - and what is Socialism really? Is it so inhumane for me to think the government has a responsibility to all people?

An old Charlie Chaplin clip - and somewhat summarises my ideas.

Is that why I've been supporting Obama this whole time?

edit: I wont ban for links to pics of the teets which nourished the next leader of the free world. I think we have a right to see

Dude, you are the greatest moderator in the history of the internet. Fair enough then, let the people see (if it really is her).

Either way, I believe Obama has made it quite clear that his "Toot" was a central figure in his upbringing. So I don't see this as having much effect - I do think it's disrespectful and embarassing though for this to come up now, considering Obama's mother has passed. (again this could be as bullshit as the lady who claimed someone carved a backwards B in her face).

Well, even the people who posted the story know they've got nothing. The story on it's own is just doesn't have the sort of effect that could change the tides of this race. Even in the original article linking those photos to Obama, the best they could come up with is "the photograph is similar to those of a radical leftist".

As if to confirm the idea that the photos on their own are practically irrelevant.
