Hey,

just got a quick question

Discuss ONE economic method that a gov't may use to reduce pollution

I was thinking carbon trading scheme or carbon tax...something like that

would those be mircoeconomic policies?

i was reading the suggested answers and it said something about reducing production (here)

I would have said that they could impose a tax on industries that produce alot of pollution in an effort to prevent them from using production methods that were detrimental to the environment, which would therefore reduce the production of the bad bad naughty dirty industries. or something to that effect. :)

yea CPRS would be a form of micro reform.

we had to write an essay for school assessment on the policies used, and we discussed the CPRS and carbon tax as well. But u cud also talk about things like improving energy efficiency measures that were outlined in the Budget this year. they would b contributing towards better allocation of scarce environmental resources decreasing pollution through the amount of carbon emissions released.

i think if we got a question like that, the most relevant answer would be the carbon emisions trading scheme. (i think i had a similar question in trial and thats wat i talked about, got the marks)
