At first i thought it was some kind of yield related question but there's none of that stuff with addition polymerisation is there?

I'm stumped.

but as the moleculer weight increases, the number of molecules decreases, how is this so? It would seem the more molecules you have, the heavier the darn thing would be.

No, ur interpreting it incorrectly.

It means there are Y polymer molecules with molecular weight X. (Y and X mean the corresponding axes).

A lot of people have trouble with this.
Basically polymerisation is a random process, elaborate on that and you'll be laughing

The common misinterpretation of this question is that the graph is progressive, which it is not. There has been another thread on this somewhere.
