Yeah, but BE5tY you're always present for our daily discussions about the quirks and what-nots of Japanese culture in class, which is a luxury few have.

In any case, if you just want to do well in listening and speaking HSC tests, that can be accomplished by studying. The listening tracks don't speak as fast as native speakers normally do, and speaking topics are fairly predictable...
I hear people last year dressed up in kimonos and stuff for the speaking test...anyone else doing the same?

Well I think by the end of the beginners course you'll be at the same point as the end of the Preliminary continuers course so you're basically doing yr9,10,11 over the course of yr11+12.
More study time isn't always a good thing. You're looking to find your own most efficient way of study. I personally find I study better later in the nights, whereas other people may find it easier to study as soon as they get home. So just find when you study most efficiently, and aim to do...
