    IT scaling in hsc course

...not that hard to believe just means he wouldve been close to the top in the state i got 93 in last years exam = 5th in state IT does scale crappily; it ended up being my lowest subject; but as people say, its ultra easy and requires so little work/study (doesnt mean that if u dont put...

Lets Make a Complaint about the poor scaling of SDD..

i didnt say they were exactly the same but as i said, the thought processes behind writing each are the same. i dont care what theoretical differences there are between the two - take common sense and realise that being good at one will usually mean you are good at the other.

Lets Make a Complaint about the poor scaling of SDD..

i think im missing the point of your argument here sunny. I agree with hornetfig. Someone who is good at writing code will be good at writing algorithms. The thought processes involved are similar; they know the tools (in terms of control structures, data structures, etc.) that will aid them...

    Dumb school drag mark down?

as long as your assesment rank is reflective of your HSC performance (which it is in 99% of cases), you will, by no means, be dragged down by being in a poor class. Now lets examine the disadvantages of being in a lower achieving class (by class i imply all those attempting a particular...

Anbody got UAI of 90+ with low scaled subjects?e.g gen maths

i wouldnt think a 90 uai cause you did very crappily in ext1 and 2 maths and averagely at best in english. doing 4unit maths doesnt automatically give you a pathway into a 90+uai. it obviously wasnt the right subject choice for you

    scaling english standard, etc.

geez...this was a dead post from nearly a year ago lol from memory the answer to that question, AI, is that the standard course, by nature, does not allow students to demonstrate the level of skill that advanced students can achieve - After all, the standard course is constructed for lower...

forcing us to sign a contract to get into advanced english

i agree with most everyone else -- go ahead and sign it, it wont do u any harm i dont agree what they're doing however - not having the resources to teach advanced english is not an excuse. i believe that too many people who arent great at english take up standard not completely knowing the...

    ieee 754

i did have a look and its not nearly as good as fatmuscles notes. the main problem is step 1: converting the decimal into a binary number. basically, the excel (and many other resources just say do it, e.g. 418.125=110100010.001 when this original number becomes more complex, for example...

    ieee 754

im guessing that it isnt necessary for us to know the ieee 754 standard right? just checking. btw, sam davis, if you're listening...HOW DO U EXPECT US TO DO Q14SET 10B??? lol you dont provide any method at all with regards to conversion into the standard and it IS NOT self explanatory...

    Preliminary notes

im not saying you couldnt. from the very start i was merely stating the prelim course isnt exactly the same as the HSC and that by not completing the prelim course you're not satisfying the board's requirements. nothing else.

    for..next loops in the hsc

this document was put out after the new course, but as i said, the specs are the same http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/syllabus_hsc/pdf_doc/softwaredesign_specs.pdf

    Preliminary notes

thats the whole point. in the hsc course, you go in to a whole lot more depth in areas. hence its definately not exactly the same. the whole point of the preliminary course in every subject is to give base knowledge which is built upon in the hsc course. i wasnt making the point that the...

    for..next loops in the hsc

technically you're not supposed to, theyre not covered in the "methods for algorithm description" document issued by the BOS (older version can be found here http://www.boredofstudies.org/other/1995_SDD_N_Methods_of_Algorithm_Description_BOS.pdf but its exactly the same as the new one). but i...

    Preliminary notes

nah its definately not exactly the same some schools may skip the prelim course however this is against BOS regulations, as it would clearly give those students an advantage however in retrospect it probably isnt any harder...only in that you need to know your work much better in order to do...
