I feel sick. I'm having so much trouble with simple questions like this. In the solutions they appear to be using the product rule. Why ? I thought the solution to this was: 1/[1+(x/x+1)²] + 1/[1+(1/2x+1)²] (unsimplified)

I don't get it... i) How the **** does 'h' come into it ? ii) How is R²-r²=b² ? I can integrate it after that, so no need to integrate it for me. Thanks in advance
