Hi Mochagirl, congrats on all those offers etcc. I'm in similar position to u (with ib and law interviews). With regards to the culture difference between the two, I would have to say its comes down to the person which type of people you like, but like you, i think that the environment in banks...

Wow these accounting firms really go through alot of effort in thier recruirtment process dont they, IB banks arent even that extensive. I also find it funny that we talking about accounting firms on a clerkship thread, I guess it sums up the current environment for law students and potential...

    Banking internships 2009/10

lol sounds like you're going to the interview cause its convenient? Which division you in for anyway? But nah I'm not saying don't go to the interviews, I'm just saying Macq is shooting themselves in the foot and losing the better applicants to the other banks by being so slow.

    Banking internships 2009/10

yeah I think macquarie are making a big mistake by being so slow. All the people who get offers from the other banks (who are efficient) are accepting the those obviously rather than keeping waiting for macq.

Melsc just log into existing applications on the Minter website, and you'll know if you got an interview or not, it saves waiting to get home and check the mail.

    Summer clerkships 2009/2010

well you can always accept the accounting firm first and then go to law if you get an offer, im pretty sure that you're allowed to go back on a contract, they can't really do anything. And yeah, but I reckon just wait out for some more law interviews, they will come.

    Summer clerkships 2009/2010

well dohh, i was slightly exagerrating obviously. My point was that they have definitely cut down their intake significantly (and not mentioning this in their happy presentations) with many people who would've gotten interviews a couple of years back failing to get anything this year. And...

well if u wanna do law, i tihnk u shdu do law. And if u study com/law u can always pursue a career in commerce if it doesnt work out for u with law. But yeah, i think thats a whole other topic and shudnt be discussed here, amongst all the shell-shocked 4th yrs awaiting responses from law firms.

lol thanks, though not as impressive as Mr. hYperTrOphY. Still not sure if I'll be going into law anyway, so I've got to do alot of thinking before these interviews. Goodluck to you as well.
