Re: Semester 1 2012 Timetables! That's a pretty intense switch, but good on you! yeh uni lecturing would probably need at least a postgrad degree plus teaching experience, so that's a really long way off but who knows? maybe one day! I'm a bit keen for English, it sounded really...

Is doing a song for a related text a bad idea?

If you're still around on this thread and considering using your songs - DON'T DO IT!!!! Songs are not good related texts. They lack the depth and complexity other texts have. If you are desperate for new related texts use a poem (Oogeroo Nunuccal or Seamus Heaney are particularly good) or a...

    converting essays

A speech is not an essay - these text types have several crucial differences. If one of the papers asks for a speech: Firstly, pay close attention to the question, especially regarding the PURPOSE of the speech and your AUDIENCE. What you write for an "audience of your peers" will be...

How do YOU study from your notes?

I record my study notes on Audacity, load onto ipod and listen to them. Actually, best way for me is to listen to my notes, read notes and say out loud all at the same time. I do this for essays and lists of thesis statements too. also, i have stuck study notes all over my room so i read them...

    Post modernism

    equipments to the exam room

i'd avoid all of it, to be honest. if you must, blow your nose a lot beforehand and take your painkillers before you get into the exam room etc. We were not allowed water bottles at all, but exam supervisers had jug of water and cups in case anyone was feeling faint. Skip the hot pack/cushion -...

Music Performance in a week, ear infection and losing my voice

start taking vitamins, gargle with saltwater (disgusting, but it works), drink hot water with lemon and honey, try to talk as little as possible, go to the doctor if you haven't already and get antibiotics for the ear. don't eat scratchy foods like toast; stick to soft foods that will not...

CSSA English Paper 2 How Did Everyone Go?

i thought the questions were fair and really good - yay no weird feature articles or any other abnormal text types! mod A i don't think i really answered the question because i wrote way more on Austen than Weldon, but Mod B and C were okay (fingers crossed) :)

Using these language and structural features too limited?

You cannot simply go into an exam with such a limited and basic range of literary techniques, it just won't be a stong evaluative/critical response. You need to analyse each of your texts in depth, picking up on a wide range of literary/poetic/filmic devices which shape meaning, then go on to...

I need two History and Memory related texts (short film/poem)

have no idea about short films, but in terms of poems you could do a WWI poem (like by Wilfred Owens etc - if you do modern this could link into that as well) or perhaps Seamus Heaney (irish poet - writes about irish history and nationalism) or Yeats for that matter (just not the poems set as...

I need help for next years subjects :)

Scaling is a lie. do what you want to do and what youre good at, and the marks will follow..i personally reckon that you need more balance in terms of subjects, but nobody knows you like you know yourself, so do what's best for you.

    Subject selection help

We had a 5 hour subject selections talk this morning and all i can say is that scaling is a myth!! apparently they changed the scaling procedure in about 2003 or 2004 and so it doesn't work like that anymore. do what you love and what your good at and what you want to do, not what supposedly...
