Normanhurst Boys mentions on there website they open a class of 15 students.

Fortstreet from memory also opens a class for Year 11 entry around 15 to 20 students.

Sydney Boys usually has around 6 spots.
do u know how many for sydney tech/hurlstone/mac fields, i applied to those 3 schools in that order (from 1st to 3rd), and i got an interview from tech, where i got reserved, nothing back from hurlstone yet, and also waitlist for mac fields. my hast bands were top 15% reading, top of middle 50% for maths, top 10% writing, but bottom 15% abstract (this section was highly predictable so super cutthroat), overall total bottom of top 15% ... so do u think i have a chance of getting in if spots open up at tech (i really wanna go there) later next term, im so nervous since they dont give out ur reserve ranks, all they say is youre on the reserve list

I've heard from my students that around 9 or so students who are in year 8 are leaving Sydney Tech for other schools, so those spots should open up. But you have to wait and see, the reserve list is a bit unpredictable.

Hey guys, I'm a James Ruse graduate of 2020, and currently I study at Usyd for med. I tutored 4 kids, all of whom got into james ruse transfers. I too was a transfer, for entry into year 11, so I figured today I could provide some help in terms of extra curricular and other tests too. Something that really sets a difference after you get your edutest results is how outstanding your application is. Personally, I tried 2 previous times and I didn't get in, so from experience, I've collated a few extracurricular activities you could go to. However, most of these activites have finished as of this year, so I'll upload those in November, so this is the last remaining prestigious one.

Take a look at Harvard Crimson Global Case Competition. Here, I placed 2nd, and this made a huge difference for me in the interviews, as the Ruse principal herself said that was one of the main deciding factors. I'd like to mention that not a lot of people sign up to this competition, and even though you do have to pay a fee, there are promo codes, which I have managed to secure and show you guys, and they provide participation certificates and other grand awards that will really create the difference on your CV. Even if its a participation certificate, it really does make the final difference for applicants at the interview stage, especially as one as prestigious as Harvard University. And paying the fee is worth it because at the end of the day, if you do end up getting in, you'll be at a school you like better, and that's all that matters. :) If you do win, you get crazy prizes of up to $1500 and you get like mentored by some of the prestigious university staff, so thats extra on your CV, and also you work in teams so dw about being or speaking alone 😭😭

Here is the promo code that I managed to find: AMB4381
I just signed up 😭 😭 so I'm not allowed to send the link, but just search up Harvard Crimson Global Case Competition and register
I'm pretty sure registrations close by the 18th or something, so if you're interested, apply quickly. Sorry for the long message :( You can look at the poster i stole of my edutest student for more info 😭 😭

Do you think it is possible to gain entry for year 9 if your supporting documents aren't amazing, but you do really well on the Edutest?

i'm not who you asked but that pretty much describes my application for entry into year 9 ruse, i got in without having many extracurriculars(pretty much just piano and lunchtime clubs) but with good edutest scores and average reports. year 9 is the best year for transferring, theres much more competition in other years as there's less spots

Ohh thank you for the info. What were your edutest results (if you don't mind sharing), and how many academic achievements did you add to your application?

not sure about the global case comp but I done the Harvard crimson global essay competition and it wasn't really good... it felt like a waste of time since you have to pay $30 for feedback. It not that prestigious bc literally anyone can sign up and there are barely any guidelines for what they're looking for in a 'good' essay. There was also a 200 word limit, which is nothing for an 'essay'. But this is just regarding the essay comp, and I did get a certificate for participating, the topic weren't that bad either. Just for clarity, the comp is run by Harvard University, rather that Crimson Education got permission to use their name and resources or at least that's what i've been told.
