I'm choosing subjects that are due really soon and I'm in a dilemma as to whether or not to take 3 social sciences - legal studies, business studies and economics. For anyone who does all three/2 or even one would you have any advice - please give me advice 🙏 Commerce is my best subject - but I feel lazy in comparison to many people who are doing sciences like physics and chem and if I should take them...

What does the workload look like if I do these three? In terms of enjoyment I looked at the syllabus and I would enjoy it but I'm scared about the workload and getting a good atar... Also if I do take them(highly likely right now) what is the best technique of study for studying these?

THis is a bit urgent so I would really appreciate any answers - short/long thank you !!!

I did legal and business. I enjoyed both of them a lot (legal more) and one of my options for legal was consumers (ur school will pick 2) and that topic fit so well with business, a lot of the stuff i learnt in one subject I could apply to the other. Theyre both writing heavy subjects, especially legal since u have to write 3 essays in the hsc exam.

Business is really boring but I found it really easy. I barely studied and still got a band 6. Legal on the other hand has a lot of content that gets overwhelming since u have to memorise so many cases, legislation, etc for ur essays. Still, I enjoyed legal more

Commerce was also my best subject in year 9/10 so I think youll be alright

For business I wrote notes while for legal I only practiced writing essays, as well as dot-pointed a lot of lcmdi (the stuff u talk about in ur essays - legislation, cases, media, documents, I forgot what I stands for) that covered multiple areas of the syllabus since a lot of things could be asked and u dont want to risk anything

However, if i had to only choose between these 2, id pick business. As much as I found it boring, I barely studied for the subject and it was my best performing subject

I mean I do business and there is quite a bit of content to remember but it honestly isn’t too bad. But honestly I think you’ll be fine. Just make sure to lock in and don’t leave things last minute and u should be fine. Cause if u enjoy them you’ll be more willing to put in effort

You’re going to have to pick a certain amount of subjects anyway. May as well pick the ones you are good at and enjoy. Just remember that a scaled 93 in business studies is roughly the same as a scaled 90 in physics. That doesn’t mean business studies is easier, it just means you should aim for higher marks in business than your physics friends get in physics. If you’re humanities inclined you’re still better off doing humanities.

There will be a lot of essay writing for your exams. I personally wish I only did Economics and did Chemistry and Physics instead of legal and business, but that is my personal preference. If you genuinely like these three humanities you should definitely consider choosing them. I wouldn't say that having one will significantly improve your performance in an another i.e picking economics won't help that much with business studies (other than in business studies finance).

I do legal and business and I really enjoy both of them!! I wish I did eco as well but tbh the workload is pretty big but I feel like it’s easier to grasp. Business is v straightforward, I don't really try too much in it and Im doing pretty well (dk if its band 6 worthy but lets pray 😭) Legal is a little easier for me because I genuinely enjoy the subject and the workload is not as bad as people make it out to be. For business I recommend memorisng the syllabus and for legal id just memorise lcmi
