Not sure how you can enroll in the 8cp units, but in the emails they sent out to us last year, (round sept from memory) i gathered that your only allowed to complete your degree with 8cp units if you already have done some 8cp units before 2006 and doing 6cp units would stuff up your unit limit...

maybe they were talking about the bio essay you have to hand in during the 1st half of the year outlining the various writings in your area of study which is meant to be 3000 words. the thesis has to be 18000 words with a 10% leeway either side else you get penalised

the TWI is important because it is weighted to our trading partners. thus if its going up then our exports on the whole are now less competive. likewise the TWI going down means that our exports become more competive. think of it as the same as the exchange rate but for all our trading partners...

you think hes bad? try having him for a tutor as well. you have to know your stuff really well else he will single you out and bombard you until you get the correct answer. on the plus side i now make a good effort to learn the stuff

as i understand it (read have been told) when taxing monopolies the government can either tax per unit or tax a lump sum. monopolies decide to produce at the level where MC=MR, a per unit tax would be added into the cost of production increasing MC, meaning less of the good would be produced...
