Career Advice - Failed subject, should I continue law?

Re: Failed Unit in Law and why did you fail it? because u didn't like it? or didn't go to classes? if you didn't like it and didn't put any effort in, maybe law isn't for you? was it really hard for you? maybe that's just because it was the beginning of uni. was it because u were working a lot...

    coach from brisbane

trains are ok but they are not very frequent. more times on the coaches. plus the train station is in the middle of nowhere (ok out of kingston) whereas coaches go right into the jollymont centre in the city, on northbourne av. as for brisbane-fly! if you book early, flights are normally...

"Request for Commonwealth Support & HECS-HELP" form

i think u do have to complete it on the day... but i thought i had it before then. hmmm bad memory. i'm pretty sure u need to know your tax file number-if you don't have one, apply ASAP because that's how they keep track of your HECS etc. but apart from that the form is pretty straightforward.

    when I went to college/uni, I wish I knew/brought/did...

bring extension cords/ longer network cables and power boards because there are often only two single power points in a college room, and not anywhere near where you want them. i used two power boards, and a 5m network cable, 1m wasn't long enough. and definitely stuff to put on your walls...

and obviously, canberra is actually where the campus is, so its a chance to have a look around if you haven't before, or see the college where u are going to live that kind of thing. they have heaps of people to ask question, for every major in arts etc. i found it quite good last year. you can...

    University ID numbers?

don't worry, uni ID comes with the offer pack from ANU. i had the same problem last year when applying for parking permits. but i rang the uni and after giving them details they gave me the ID over the phone anyway so give that a try if you're worried, but i don't think it'll matter heaps to...

    Underage in '06

the bars are very id checkie. especially in o-week. otherwise, when it's not thurs, fri, sat, there are often no checks. can be annoying! still quite a few people are underage, especially inter state students. most colleges organise non-drinking alternatives, and events which are at the college...

1st year Q: How much will this bitch cost?

you can get away with second hand textbooks fine if the edition hasn't changed. however, if the edition has changed, it's a pain in the arse, all the page refs are wrong, in law subjects the actual law can have changed, new cases etc which old textbooks don't mention. so i would say get the new...

    So who got an offer?

Congrats everyone! wow, so many ursies people. how cool! I can't wait for o-week again....ah happy drunkeness. and good to see there are still a bazillion people doing arts/law. no really, it's not that bad once you are there, lectures are pretty small. its just everyone u meet in...

1st year Q: How much will this bitch cost?

i'm not sure i understand your question, but i'll attempt to answer. enrolment is free-but you have to pay the GSF of $125 which is for semester 1 only, not sure after vsu comes in. college fees-i think last year i had to payabout $1100 to confirm my place-that included 2 or 3 weeks...

    Letter to Law faculty

just a warning-i remember at PEA day last year they told us that due to increased demand no one had been admitted with less than 95 by sending a letter. so probably a good idea to mentally prepare yourself, think of alternatives like end of first year transfer.

    Honours?

from what i've heard from my second year friends, everyone who gets a credit average + gets one of those letters, -i got one too- but that doesn't mean you can do honours per se, you have to go through all these applications next year (if you are doing a BA), get a supervisor, have to have...

    Which degree for politics?

i would definitely recommend a canberra uni, especially anu-obviously being in canberra, parlilaments etc all right there, there are internship programs you can do as part of your degree, 6 months of a year in a government department etc and they have an extremely strong school of social...
