year 1 courses are pretty standard throughout all disciplines. dont need to worry until 2nd year basicly.
and if your WAM is above 65, changing would just involve filling in a sheet of paper (well a bit more than that but yeh :P)
computing for mech: comp1911 OR engg1811 (for specification purposes)
however beceause engg1811 is quite useless (learning excel in first 5 weeks then rest of the time on java) many would choose comp1911 instead.
if you're doing mechatronics even if its not compulsory then it would at least be...

ENGG1000 is offered in both semesters (just to confirm). This is confirmed apparently with an e-mail from someone from ESC. The handbook stuffed up this time.

in 2nd semester engg1000 you have
- only one project to do, so theres no choice
- probably a project that is harder than what you'd get from 1st semester. I personally had a mixed mechanical and electrical project
- most students in 2nd semester are overseas student who cannot do ANYTHING...
For your info, I did ENGG1000 in 2nd semester just last year and it was crap because you had no choice over anything.
I do believe the handbook is wrong in this instance (as weird as it is). Do accept it as a valid qn please.
