well it seems a lot fairer than the schools who give it to the most firsts or whatever (although i guess that overlaps - i think it did this year), and if you wait and base it on uai's, then no one really cares any more by the time dux is awarded.

i went to a senior school too, but the year 12s every year always hatee the year 11s.

yeah, i don't agree with a lot of the marks that i've heard about in ext 2 english. and i'm not even bitter - i got 48/50, which i was ecstatic with, and 49 as an assessment mark. but so many people's projects seem to have got marks that are way different from what i would have expected at...

mmm, it didn't seem that dedicated at the time. just what i did. besides, i loved all my subjects. and i didn't really work that hard - well, i don't think i worked that hard. family and friends don't agree with me on that, but i felt like i spent most of year 12 bludging.

our school did some sort of tricky thing to try and predict who'll get the highest uai, based on internal assessments, and award dux on the basis of that. sometimes they get it right, sometimes they get it wrong. they also have another award for highest uai. last year, the girl who was dux was...
