I can definitely see a trig sub polynomials question tho since haven't seen one in a few years I don't think

Very decent chance this yr on p and cs. barely any was tested last yr. I'd argue as well that barely any probability questions were present either.

they're still good practice, especially when hsc decides to pull some random questions out that other schools dont test
i took a look at girra and penrith, good recommendations. thanks

i think ruse is quite reasonable. nsb a little less, ppl say not to do them because theyre horribly written or smth

I’m guessing because ppl doing ext 1 have it as 1 unit while ppl doing ext 2 have it as 2 units, so 70 marks is the rough midpoint between 100 and 50

I think it's due to it being 2hrs long instead of 3hrs. So only 2/3 of 100 rounds to around 70 ish

It gets rescaled based on whether it's worth 1 or 2 units tho (4u ppl)

So guys... based on the difficulty of 4U math and 2U math, I think it is safe to say to do the hardest papers for 3U because NESA punished us

does anybody know what raw is required to align to a high E4 (97, 98), and how big the margin between each mark is? if you have any examples, plz tell!

on the rawmarksdatabase, in 2024, a raw 84 became a 94, and a raw 87 is a 96 - it's insane to me that a 3 mark gap in raw was a 2 mark gap in aligned. do they just lump all of the higher ones together, in that case?

I think the idea of alignment is just to rank you against the state. It makes sense since if u lose 2 marks, many people probably scored higher than you already. this is cause the tests are only out of 70

Alignment works by a committee judging what raw mark gives 90, 80, 70 etc. Every other mark in between those cut-offs is linearly interpolated. So when a 87 aligns to a 96 for example, it doesn’t align exactly to a 96. It’s actually rounded to 96.
