It was also kind of implied in the question that the force caused the object to accelerate in the positive direction and we now want to make it accelerate even more.

also, maybe a bit of a hard to answer question, but ive been looking through past bos trial results and im just wondering how these raw marks would "scale" in comparison to raw marks in the hsc going to scaled and aligned ykwim? like, do people who've achieved x in the bos trials usually go on to get a hsc mark that's in some way related to x?

I don't exactly ask BoS trial students for their actual HSC marks so I cannot tell you...

All I can say is you don't necessarily have to ace the BoS Trials to state rank in the HSC. Students who have topped the BoS Trials did not necessarily state rank. But obviously this is at the top end of the scale where just 1-2 marks makes a difference.

Ah that got me, I was really confused as for it to be the acute angle and driving force it needed to be the angle from the left side of the diagonal, perhaps the better way to think of it would be as a rope and tension?

Could it be because you're thinking of having the force vector's tip on the object from the left? Any force vector acting on the object should be illustrated with its tail on the object's centre.

I was thinking kind of like this diagram so I thought it has to be resistive as the driving force would have to have an obtuse angle to the horizontal, idk what I was thinking for q2, def overcomplicated it

If you get over 50% in the BoS Maths Trials, that's pretty decent

I'd imagine someone who gets 80% in these trials has an IQ of 145

50/80 * 145 = 90.625 IQ

Assuming IQ is proportional to percentage.

90 is where monkeys sit, I think 50% would be like 130 IQ. then 30% would be 115 IQ

Avg. IQ is like 100 isn't it. The avg person would get like 40% in this test.

you have to consider that the cohort has on average a higher IQ than the rest of the state, and I believe mode of IQ for people doing 4u would be around 130. you can see it

you probably don't think of IQ but if you're finding HSC and esp mx2 easy ur IQ must be very high

a subject like maths extension 2 is a good proxy for IQ as it is the most cognitively demanding. in advanced I could just rote learn the question style and just apply it in the hsc.

IQ is so reliable it is used by psychologists to diagnose someone with mental illnesses. people just sweep it under the rug when talking about school and the hsc cause it makes people have low self esteem.

well this is kind of my whole problem, i find mx2 easy but i struggle a lot with english and other essay subjects, so how does that say anything about my iq? couldnt you make the same argument the other way and say oh look at this guy he sucks at history so his iq must be in the 80s? i just dont see how iq as a concept makes any sense
