Hey Everyone!

Some of you may have seen my previous post about how I didn't get into Fort Street High School. In case you didn't, basically I applied for Fort Street, Sat the HAST exam and all jumped through all the hoops that they put in front of me and I hadn't heard back from them. Considering one of my friends got an interview a week after the HAST exam I had accepted that I hadn't gotten in. However, the receipt of application specifically states that you will be notified of the outcome by the end of Term 3. It's past the end of the term and I'm wondering if anyone has gotten their rejection letters yet. Either they've had some administrative error and haven't sent out the letters or something happened to my letter in the mail. In a strange way I was kind of hoping for the rejection letter to arrive promptly just so I could have the closure of knowing that I didn't get in and should put it behind me and start a new chapter, however now that the letter hasn't arrived this excessively optimistic voice in the back of my head is telling me that maybe I was just put on a reserve list or they forgot to phone (which is, if not impossible, super unlikely). Anyway, I'm wondering if any of you have received rejection letters from Fort Street in the mail (Or perhaps via e-mail), I would appreciate it greatly if anyone with any info could respond.

Thanks for your time :)

I am not even joking I just checked the mail... and im so upset, i didnt make it
Damn that really sucks. I'm still waiting for mine. I also had my heart set on FS and two of my best friends and my favourite teacher goes there, and I worked so hard for the application but honestly if they can't appreciate how much effort we put into the application and how badly we wanted to go there then they don't deserve to have us. From what I've heard you sound like a hard-working person and I know its clichè and corny (I want to vomit every time someone tells me this) but you'll do great at your current school. Bottle up the rejection and use it to motivate you to do better at your current school, get good tutors for the HSC and you'll have developed a better work ethic and determination than if you easily got into Fort Street.

Thank you, that is honestly so true they don't accept the people who are determined thats why there rank keeps dropping! They don't deserve us!!! And my money!!!! GONE... I am in year 8 so I still have years in front of me to apply but I'm not sure I want to, they don't deserve our passion haha but when we become successful in the future and they will be rank 130 we will have the last laugh!!!

If anyone has done the entry application for fort street in year 9 looking to get into year 10 please share your experiences. If you have made it please share your grades and essays and other things such as if you had to go for an interview, what questions did they ask. This is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
Hey, in terms of interview questions, here are some questions you can generally expect:
  • What do you do during the week?
  • Why do you want to attend this school?
  • What can you bring to this school?
  • What are your hobbies?
  • What are your aspirations in life?
  • Do you have a backup plan?
  • What subjects are you planning on taking and why?
You should practise responding to those that you feel will be the most relevant in a sophisticated manner so that you can perform well in your interview. Some good things to do in addition would be to ask questions about the school when you're given the opportunity, as that shows that you're interested and care about the school, which would be consistent with an answer you may provide to "Why do you want to attend this school?" and/or "What can you bring to this school?". Another good thing to keep in mind is to maintain eye contact with the person conducting the interview as this, when combined with sophisticated answers, shows that you're confident in front of the person.

I hope this helps! 😄
