OMFG are you serious?

can you find out more please!
It is correct.

Read the marking criteria in exam papers. It will say that the best mark you can get without case studies is around 10-12 at best.

My teacher, who marks the HSC, said if you don't put case studies in, you are instantly capped at around 11-12

12. My mate forgot in the trials and his report was really good but only got a 12, the teacher said that was the max according to marking criteria, so unless the criteria changed.. then yeah

FUCK MY LIFE.

would 12/20 be for the top quality 20/20 (with case studies) essays

or can like a 16/20 still get a 12/20?

You mean essay?

The criteria is the same. So he is right. ~12 is your max.

It's okay, you've lost around 8 marks but if you did the other sections of the test decently you can still get 88-90 or so, so you might just get a band 6 :)

It probably wouldn't matter much. There is not much difference between an 11 and a 12 typically.

Yeah, it is 12 at max without a case study. Because of the band that your essay would be in for not having refernece to a case study in the marketing criteria. That's how they would have to mark it.

Everyone is wrong in the sense it is a max of 12.

Technically you are "Capped" at 12. But achieving said 12 should be easy if the rest of your content was decent/good.

Q26/27 can be report or essay, whichever you choose. and i would guess a 16/20 could still get 12 i mean you only need to have basic information to even get a 10 so i don't see why a 16/20 can't be 12

I'm pretty sure you don't need to use any case studies for question 25 as you're assessing a hypothetical business.

And I'm just curious, can you do the last question in the form of a business report less the recommendations?

Yeahh you can do the case study question as report or essay, i like reports, they're simpler though ahaha
You shouldn't do it as a report. If you do section 4 as a report, you aren't really doing the question quite right. Although yuo can, it sorta shows the marker you aren't sure of what to do.

Of course you do know, but it is one of those things which happens if you do a report for section 4

If you think you've written a great essay, then that means your stimulus response is good too. At worst you'll get about 86 if you've done good for all the other questions, you'll be fine! :) Band 6 for sure!

Erm. The stuff in this thread isn't true.

Sure, not having a case study doesn't help and you WILL lose marks but there isn't a "cap" at 12. You are in the Band 4 range only for one dot point and I am pretty sure if you do well for the other stuff then a band 5 is not out of reach.

Two of my friends didn't do a case study for their last sections and got 13/20 and 15/20 respectively. The teacher said they will get around 3 more marks each if they had a case study. That being said- both of their essays were really good and they covered everything else.

No you do get capped. I have HSC Markers at my school who say you WILL be capped at ~12 if you don't have case studies.

These are Senior exam markers by the way

To edit. It isn't technically a "cap". Not having case studies will "prevent you from obtaining higher bands". Hence the cap of 12
