Also, mental illnesses are different and have different affects on sufferers. It is important to understand the specific illness and exactly the sort of stuff you will be getting involved with and whether or not you can handle them.

For example, I would avoid getting involved with an anorexic or bulimic who is very physically unwell and underweight. In my experience it will take a very long time to get from that stage to recovery, and will involve a lot of awful hospital business and health issues.

Additionally, I would be hesitant about starting a relationship with someone who has only very recently been diagnosed with bipolar. It often takes quite a while to find the correct medication and dosage, with the affects of the process being quite intense, confusing and draining to be around.

no.

but in experience mentally unstable people are better at sex.

could be:
pent up anger/sadness makes wonderful animalistic sex
or
they try to make up for being crazy by being awesome in bed
or
it' just a coincedence.

If you want rough/animalistic/whatever sex and your partner isn't doing it themselves then either get the ball rolling yourself or speak up

If you and your partner both suck at the carnal arts in general, its an excuse to practice practice practice

To answer original post, I probably wouldn't get involved with someone knowing they had serious issues

Inherently disordered. Made worse by the fact that it was probably self-inflicted thru drug abuse. No mother figure, that's for sure.
Avoid the noid.

I dated a girl who had moderate/severe bipolar disorder.

Everything was fine until she started taking meds to treat her condition - one of the side-effects was weight gain.

I broke it off soon after realising just how large she was getting.
