Hi everyone,
I’m currently in Year 10, doing Mathematics 5.3, and my average so far is around 72%. Next year I’ll be moving into Year 11 Mathematics Advanced, and I’m starting to think about tutoring to prepare myself for the jump in difficulty.
I feel like I have a decent understanding of the Year 10 5.3 content, but I also know that Advanced in Year 11 is a big step up, especially with topics like functions, calculus, and trigonometry being much more demanding. My goal is to build a stronger foundation now so that I don’t fall behind when the content gets tougher.
I’ve heard a lot about Dr Du tutoring, and I’m considering it, but I’m not sure if it’s the best choice for my situation. From what I know, they have a very structured approach and move quickly, so I’m wondering if that’s good for someone at my current level, or if I’d be better off with a tutor/centre that focuses more on individual explanation and guidance.
If anyone has experience with Dr Du (especially coming from a similar mark range), or if you know other good tutoring centres/individual tutors for Year 11 Advanced Maths, I’d really appreciate your recommendations. I’m mainly looking for something that can help me improve my results, but also make sure I understand the concepts clearly rather than just memorising methods.
Thanks so much for your help!
