what is the best selective tutoring places for GUARANTEED selective school entry?
[preferable responses from people that got into selective with the help of tutoring, but not necessary]

im looking for:
- affordability (<1000)
- reliability
- commitment (although i agree that this is from both sides)

also considering the exam is in May, am i already too late to look for 100% success?
this is for my younger brother btw not me 💀

schools we're looking at:
- fort street high school (top priority)
- girraween high school
- james ruse agricultural high school
- sefton high school

I’m going to be honest as someone who got into a selective school and who’s local sect I’ve are 2 of what you’ve mentioned, go one-on-one tutors. Don’t do pre-uni or Kumon, or other brands as they are significantly unhelpful. They’re only useful in materials but not actually teaching students the steps of progress to get accepted.
- private tutoring helped me get accepted to a selective school & worked better for most ppl Ik

Not related but just a word of advice from someone who narrowly made the cutoff for a partial selective school as their last choice and also has a sibling who is doing the test in may:

If your brother is lacking in one area (e.g reading and writing or maths and thinking skills), make sure he constantly revises his weak areas with also revising his strong areas because my parents put off drilling in writing and literacy skills in my sister and she might be cooked in writing and reading and has resorted to using chatgpt for reading comprehension and writing. I’m sorry but just because you might excel in one area doesn’t mean it’s going to carry you to a guaranteed spot. Also please make sure your brother is doing papers under STRICT exam conditions because relaxed conditions will create a demon who demands an extra 5 mins just because the person supervising the test coughed (my sister…). It’s not too late to achieve success as long your brother is able to utilise the summer holidays and the term 1 2026 holidays to lock in.

Again, it’s not the end of the world if your brother doesn’t make it in and there’s always year 8-11 transfers unless your parents are like mine and will ship your sibling off to who knows there. Anyways, good luck for your brother and his studies!

I didn’t pay for a term, only hourly/ when you needed them.
So in this case, I’d just find ( what I’d do) find 2 tutors both from selective schools or ( an all rounder), 1 who’s good at math and the other at English/ the writing portion as it will be weighed more—> obviously depending on your- your brother’s? Needs, you may not need both.

as for general ability, consistent practice is all you need to perform well.

Hi! I got into a top 10 selective school in year 6 which my parents put as first choice, and I'm transferring into Ruse year 9 next year.
The big 3 that i recommend:
-Mr Ye(absolute goat)
-Alpha One(esp good holiday classes)
-Pre Uni New College

If you're looking solely for practice papers:
-NotesEdu
-Selectivetrial

Most of my friends started selective tutoring from mid year 5 - mid year 6, but i started in late term 4 of year 6. If he locks in he will be fine
