think of it this way
he will, because he is brilliant, tops everything except 4unit lol

just as a sorta indication of his memory, coz its a bit hard to show his english skills atm but if your top english student in your school can tell you all of the american presidents in year order and the year they served, the british prime ministers going back to the first one (btw that was a hell of a long time ago) then perhaps they might be better than him, he remembers a shitload more, i could go on forever but i wont bore ya'll

i agree, the best english students have good memories for trivial things - but then there's the paradox of students who are good at EVERYTHING..

for me, the creative writing part of pomo is easy because i throw in current affairs references. i don't know if any of you people do that.. ?

ok if postmodernism takes into account the plethora of perspectives and systems of belief that exist, then the terrorists' (who orchestrated 9/11) beliefs are as equally valid as any other right? and after the extremist action they chose to take as an expression of their belief, i believe that acceptance of extreme opinions is now gone after the mass destruction that was suffered. that is why postmodernism has reached its xenith, and humanity will move onto a different philosophical paradigmatic period.

(sorry if you didn't understand that, it was all kind of jumbled) :)

i reckon if anything 9/11 was a boon for PoMo thought. I see where ur coming from with ur all views are equal but u r just going against PoMo by saying 'No, extremist thought is wrong.' Ur rejection of that viewpoint as it s goes against your moral framework is the very thrust of PoMo argument in a nutshell. Plus part of PoMO is a vehment hate of cultural imperialism and neo-colonisation and there is no doubt that the terroists were striking out aginst the USA for this crime. And on the whole debate of 9/11. These guys, the terroists, would have experienced death all around them. There is a real lack of parity in the 'shocking events of 9/11'. What is everyone else forgetting Nagazaki and Hiroshima via the USA? The ethnic cleansing of Rwanda and Bosnia?all Events of USA misaction or action.

In closing i reckon 9/11 really just validated PoMo thought. the USA just realised hey our cultural imperialist materialist pattern of thought not the only one in the world...people acutqally hate our guts.

NEVER say that you wish you did postmodernism! It's an EVIL elective. It's not that I have anything against the movement itself, but I do have a problem with them teaching it to 17 year olds who haven't experienced enough or studied enough of the classics to get a full understanding. What we are learning is a really superficial view of pomo. I also have a problem with it being taught by teachers who have no idea what it is themselves.

Oh and people who had that STUPID "write a dialogue between 2 characters" question - you are not alone. Our school also decided to be orginal and take the Trial questions from the specimen paper. I got 19/25 for the dialogue and 14/25 for the other bit, which was nowhere near as stupid and pointless as my dialogue, so I think our teachers are all on drugs. Either that or their just plain stupid, which I'm sure no one from my school would disagree with. Well, now that I've vented, it's back to Orlando. Can anyone tell me what's with the angel?

I think its an interesting point that you bring up Ghostrider. Its easy to say "accepting radical viewpoints is just plain wrong because it resulted in the loss of 3000 lives!", but you are just inadvertantly reaffirming the postmodernist argument, and also compared to the atrocities committed at the hands of the US (Cambodia, Bosnia etc.) it is really fairly insignificant
I think the laymans explanation of postmodernism is that value systems are inescapable, but we should do our best to try to be objective. Which brings me onto my next point. meegs i completely agree with what you said. This commercialised, over-the-counter, pre-packaged simplified version of postmodernism which we get taught is completely ludicrous. Given our age we and circumstances (ie the amount of lesson time we have) we can't be expected to get a wholistic view of the topic..

But on a different note, for my trial i got 23/25 for my creative writing piece (on a postmodern advertising campaign for a toothcare product) and 20/25 for the analytical section (about how "postmodernism rejects without offering any viable solutions") which was surprising cause i thought i gunned the analytical and sucked at the creative.
