I was given the idea to go through my syllabus's and study each topic and subtopic mentioned there. Is there anyone out there who has/is doing this to study? how have you documented it all so you know that you have covered each topic?

make sure you study the skills section - ie. 'students learn to...' - i don't know how many people just study the 'students learn about...' section and then struggle for exams! questions based on skills will usually give you some external stimulus to use, but in many cases (especially the sciences) you will have to rely on your own knowledge of these things... and if your school is anything like mine, a lot of science questions are skills based!
