the 2025 4U exam was clearly a very light paper but I guess I freaked out in the exam and now im expecting like a raw 40-50 (💀 pls dont judge its bad I know) but my goal was to pursue a degree in mathematics because I eventually wanted to teach mathematics, since Im getting an abysmal mark should I just do something else? not that anything else interests me but im not sure what else to do since I wont have the "credential" to prove that I at least did well in maths.

Still worth pursuing if that’s your interest, not to mention the education sector really needs more Maths teachers. There are many Maths teachers currently in the system would have done worse than you did in the HSC

Also way too premature to even be thinking about it especially given there’s still Maths Ext1 to go

No the fuck it wasn't. Question 13 was literally the hardest it's been. Who cares what the people who dedicate their entire life to extension 2 say. They only think it's easy cause they've somehow seen the exact very questions before. A 45 raw is already equivalent to a band 6 in math advanced anyway

normal maths units should be pretty easy to get through. advanced units are harder than 4u <-> uni splits most core units into normal streams and advanced streams

seems like a person does reasonably well in 3u maths can do pretty well in normal maths

yeah I figured tbh. I dont struggle with 4U its pretty much always exam conditions where I make a million sillies (obviously this is completely my fault) but I was thinking abt how for ppl to "notice" your skill you would need some form of 'credential' to show u actually like/ are good at maths. (I also wanted to tutor mathematics to show that im passionate abt this after hsc but nobody is gonna go to a tutor who didn't even get a band 6 💀)

okay maybe except q13 and like 16 cos ive never seen those questions before but you have to admit it wasn't the hardest thing they've put out def harder than 2020 but probably similar scaling to 2021 or 2024

e3 cut off 45 for 2021. definitely not easy as 2024, 2024 had the worst alignment and highest e3 cut off

Yeah I'm sorry hunny
It's best if you pursue something else if your literal goal is showing off your achievements

If you want to become a maths teacher solely because your passionate for it then go ahead

but if your more keen about having and showing your 'credentials and achievements' then don't even bother looking in that direction

There are plently of people who got band 4-5s who probably became your maths teacher
Its not as if HSC has any determinant on your uni courses/pathway
Just because you didn't get a b6 here doesn't mean you can't later go on to achieve distinctions and HD in Uni

Well about the short term goal of becoming a tutor -> Yeah unlikely. I don't think people will be keen to be tutored by someone who didn't get a b6
Tough luck sweetie
