I went to a pretty big high school. About 210 HSC students.

My ranks were

English: either 13 or 16/110
English extension 1: 2/17
Mathematics 3/60- something
Mathematics extension 1: 8/36
Food technology: 1/20ish
Chemistry: 4/28
Physics 2/40- something

I got 95.30 for my UAI.

It depends a lot on how smart and hardworking the people at your school are.

These ranks in a form of 270 got me 98+

4u Maths: 4/17
3u Maths: 2/~50
Bio : 1/~40
Chem: 5/~40
English(adv): 10/~120
Phyiscs: 15/~50
SOR1: ~230/270

Knock about 5 ranks off each of those and you'd be getting close to what you need for 95 methinks.

Well your uai would also depend on what marks you get in the HSC Exam.

If you get really well in "in-school assessments" and bomb out in the HSC, you won't get a mad UAI.
Same as someone who bludges throughout the year and does badly in the "in-school assessments" but does really well in the HSC tests.

I think it also depends on which school you go to and "the candidature of the rest of the candidates at your school" (typical UAC answer).
I reckon they probably use a random number generator to make UAI's for each person. Because I've know really smart people who got 96, 97 whereas a full bimbo chik who never studied, got drunk every week and got 98.

I dunno, interesting question still.......... you'll get a very subjective answer. Maybe you'll get false sense of security or put you into panic mode.

hey so.......what does it mean if your school is not hard working, but you get ranked like 1st(+ small school) , would your mark be affected? =)
also does your mark count towards your uai? apart from your rank?

Your ranks in the state are the determining factor in the calculation of your UAI. In a way, the marks do count towards your UAI, but they are altered based on state ranking (i.e. moderating, scaling etc)

Well, if you're a stand-out student at a school of relatively low ability and you still perform well in the HSC exam in comparison with other students in the state, then you will most likely gain a high UAI. That said, you may be ranked first but do poorly in the HSC exam in which case your high ranking will not translate into a high UAI.

Interesting. I thought all schools had a limit to the number of students they can take in.

That's massive...that means your school must have around 1800 students from Yr7-12. How do they fit you all into a hall for the English AOS exam?
