was the aim of the pasteure's swan neck experiment...

to disprove the theory of spontaneous generation?

Yep that's correct.

From my notes:
Pasteur discovered that microorganisms exist in the air. His experiment, involving flasks filled with broth, demonstrated that substances could not form mould if they were not exposed directly to air. This disproved the theory of spontaneous generation, which claimed that life could spontaneously come to life.

What babydoll_ has in her notes is correct, however, I'm not sure if the initial aim was to disprove the theory of spontaneous generation, or just to experiment..

None of the textbooks have any detail about the aim of his experiment, just what Pasteur discovered. By the way, babydoll_, I like that last bit of your notes.."life could spontaneously come to life" ^^

lolz, i dutn want to add to the confusion, but i fink pasture is firstly asked by a wine maker to investigate y the wines go sour wif the presense of air..... not entirely sure wut really happened tho.......
