Currently, I go to Kurt's Mathematics Centre, and I'm not sure if it's actually as useful as it seems to be. I sometimes feel a bit scared to ask questions (because the teacher will probably berate me in front of the class if they're too stupid lol). Also, for a bit of background context, I'm not doing very well at school maths (3rd quartile yikes). If anyone has made the switch from tutoring centres (i.e. Kurt, NGO, Dr Du, etc.) to private tutoring, I would really appreciate it if you could tell me how helpful it is and if moving is actually worth it. My goal is to be ranked 1st in maths (a bit ambitious, but we'll see how it goes). do well in maths competitions (like AMC, AIMO, AMO etc.) and, ideally state rank maths ex1 or ex2. Also, any reccs for private tutors would also be very much appreciated :)

as someone who was rlly bad at maths ( did E1), I always recommend private tutor> class tutoring. Bc in a private tutor they can actually identify your individual weaknesses and focus on ameliorating them. I tried some class tutoring like Matrix, etc, but they weren’t very good bc they would always move faster than I could catch up so I got left behind and ended up barely learning. So def priv/ individual tutor. I have some tutor recs I can message u if u want. If you’re gonna get a priv tutor tho, I’d recommend a student/ uni grad over an actual teacher ( I always find actual teachers/ older tutors kinda scary). Idk tho, maybe some r nice.
