How to study for maths advance HSC (1 Viewer)

Hey guys, for maths adv trials I got 72% and was lowkey wondering how to study for the HSC. I'm not overly upset with my trial score or anything but honestly it really did make me realise how much I have no idea how to even study maths. I think I need to go back to the basics but it's just sooooo much content with only a month left till HSC (and all my other subjects I have to study for) Wondering how everyone else is planning to study from now one. Anyways good luck to everyone!

just curious, what textbook do you use for math advanced?

Work out why you're getting things wrong. Is it that you really don't understand some concepts, or just that you're prone to making silly mistakes (or both)? If it's the latter, just do as many past papers as you can and record everything you get wrong. Then, check the solutions, redo the questions, and figure out where you went wrong so that you can avoid making the same mistake again.

Taking your "back to basics" approach, your best bet would be to attempt as many chapter reviews from your textbook as you can (if your textbook is low quality, maybe you could try to access a better one? We use Cambridge and New Senior, and they're pretty good). If you're struggling significantly with any chapter review, then go over the corresponding sections of the chapter again. Maths is just a bunch of practice! You still have time, good luck

Hi!! Looking over my trial results its definitely a bit of not understanding concept and also making silly mistakes. I have a sorta okay understanding of every topic, enough to get marks for at least every question but loose some for not knowing how to fully do the questions or getting the wrong solutions and such. The textbook we use at my school is maths in focus, which is pretty meh cause I feel that it is significantly easier than the HSC questions a lot of the time. My teacher does have a Cambridge textbook though that she bring out from time to time so I'll take your advice and properly look over that one! Thanks for the encouragement!

Maths in focus. It's pretty surface level so I lean towards doing past hsc questions more than often but a lot of the time I just get confused probably cause my understanding of these topics are pretty surface level too LOL

The textbook we use at my school is maths in focus, which is pretty meh cause I feel that it is significantly easier than the HSC questions a lot of the time. My teacher does have a Cambridge textbook though that she bring out from time to time

Maths in Focus is for learning the content. Read the notes and examples and explanations in the textbook. Do a few questions if you still have time. Then just use past papers and smartermaths
