if i wanted to major in finance and something else.

what should i choose for my first yr elective?

also should I choose financial economics or jus finance, whats the difference.

also what is econometrics and economic and eco history about?

If you are majoring in Finance, you'd want to do FINS1612: Capital Markets
you need that as prerequisite for 2nd year finance subjects.
also, if you are doing a "core" 2nd major (ie a major that is accounting, econometrics or economics) then you start that major in 2nd year.
Actually, thats the same with a non-core 2nd major - u'd just start your 2nd major in 2nd year

econometrics is basically economics, statistics and mathematics thats what you'll be doing - ask Bambul, he's a 3rd year economics student and has been through all those subjects
Economic History...seems pretty vaugue to me, dont worry about it
else, go here: www.economics.unsw.edu.au and read their major descriptions

Econometrics bites!

But it teaches you a lot of really cool things. So it ain't that bad I guess.
