For Extension Music, candidates may: submit an original composition, a suite of performances, or a musicological essay.

My question is: how are these compared? They are not marked by the same marking teams, and are quite different. How is the first in the course student determined? Is our raw mark simply our aligned mark? Are the relative differences in micro-candidatures for each aspect (Performance, Composition, Musicology) aligned to a common standard before being reported?

(This may not be a technical question, more a question about the method of the Board, but I thought I would post it for discussion.)

They are marked against the outcomes set by the board, so a Band E4 performance and a Band E4 composition who receive the same mark will be considered of the same standard and therefore the same mark. There is no assumption that one area is harder than another.
