hey,
i was just wondering what would happen if your ranked 1st in a subject, say business studies and your school assesment mark is 93.
Then in the actual hsc exam you did quite bad and achieved only 80 (is that what they call the raw mark?). Does your assesment mark get pulled down or would your raw mark get scaled slightly because you were initially ranked first in the subject?

also is the HSC mark on the results sheet the actual raw mark you achieved in the exam or is that moderated accordingly as to how the rest of the state did?

thanks

well depends on ur rank in the exam, if that 80 in the exam was still first in ur class, then u wud get ur moderated assessment mark as 80, and ur exam mark neva changes so itd be 80. cos this wud mean ur teachers marked to easily in assessments.
however, if in the exam ur 80% was say 5th, well then if the person who came first got 95% in the exam, u get 95 as ur moderated assessment mark (cos u came 1st in assessments) and then 80 as ur exam mark.

secondly, the hsc mark results sheet never says the raw exam mark, it only says the aligned mark which is where they align u into bands according to the standards...
then they giv u ur moderated assessment mark.

ok thanks....

so the actual mark you scored in the hsc exam, u'll never know?? so it is moderated as to how the rest of the state performed??...
