for part iii the answer has 8 roots i.e +/- 2pi/9 and so on, should we not just take 4 of the roots cause the degree is 4?

if you're solving for cos(a) then it should be 4 roots, its degree 4 for a polynomial where x=cosa but if you're solving for alpha it should be different
