idk avoid the lat maybeIcic. So even tho ppl know this im curious on why they choose to go usyd![]()
higher atar higher perceived prestige -> u goIcic. So even tho ppl know this im curious on why they choose to go usyd![]()
Fair enough but is it rlly worth it if u get like a credit at usyd when u could get a distinction at unswhigher atar higher perceived prestige -> u go
no but then again no one who gets a 99.5 atar expects themselves to get a creditFair enough but is it rlly worth it if u get like a credit at usyd when u could get a distinction at unsw
True true, cos for me i might get the mysydney and gateway thing which signficantly reduces the atar reqno but then again no one who gets a 99.5 atar expects themselves to get a credit
reading comprehension goes crazy here. i said most firms takes a small amount of legal aid matters. there are points where my firm takes a lot. i made it into unsw automatically because of lat but chose sydney over it. i think they are comparable but usyd is still slightly preferred by employers because of its longstanding reputation.'small amount' u said like 150 or smth <///3 wait and did you not go to unsw? i thought it was better than usyd
a distinction average at usyd will get you through the first resume cull of basically any law firm, including top tiers. distinction average in general with extracurriculars will get you through the door at a lot of firms, but if everything else is comparable, they will take the usyd student over another uni in most cases.don't a lot of firms only hire distinction average graduates? if so why are usyd law students considered more hireable
i don't know about other courses, but my other degree wasn't marked on a curve, and was infinitely easier to get HDs in.does usyd only scale law subjects
its an actual rule and its in one of the faculty guidelines, unless they changed it in the last like two years since i last checked. 0-3% HDs is a hard cutoff. marks are also definitely moderated, i've had that confirmed by at least 4 separate academics.its not properly scaled. it's like a soft rule within the markers heads that x% hd, y% d etc. etc.
generally the official policy is no scaling, but subjects tend to have a natural curve formed for marks anyways
I’ve met up with people from my high school who got into big 6 and they say a distinction law wam, not combined wam but law wam, is an effective requirement for the top firms. Generally if one’s law wam doesn’t meet that, unless they’re exceptional in some other way, their resume is getting thrown in the trash before the hirer even looks at extra curriculars.a distinction average at usyd will get you through the first resume cull of basically any law firm, including top tiers. distinction average in general with extracurriculars will get you through the door at a lot of firms, but if everything else is comparable, they will take the usyd student over another uni in most cases.
